Everyone has a story. Meet Diana L.Ac., co founder of EastWest Microneedling.
EastWest Microneedling LLC
From her cousin’s life-changing accident to becoming an acupuncturist and microneedling specialist, Diana’s journey has always been about one thing: helping people to thrive through the power of eastern medicine.
What inspired you to become an acupuncturist and microneedling teacher?
Close to 25 years ago I was teaching yoga, practicing reiki and temping in NYC. I was exploring how to increase my impact as a healer when my 16 year old cousin fell 60 feet off of a cliff onto his head and shoulder. He would have died if not for brain surgery and western medical critical care but his full recovery was thanks to complementary medicine, especially acupuncture and Chinese herbs. It was clear from that experience where my future path would take me.
Two acupuncturist teachers initially inspired me to specialize in facial rejuvenation acupuncture - the late “Doc” Ron Rosen and since 2007, the luminary Mary Elizabeth Wakefield. I taught the foundations of Wakefield’s work from 2015- March 2020. In 2015 I was also introduced to motorized “microchanneling” through Procell Therapies, and thought, wow, this looks like a modern version of “plum blossom” acupuncture technique and is such a powerful, healthy way to rejuvenate the skin! I quickly discovered that my acupuncturist colleague Amelia Vargas had come to the same conclusion. We began to experiment with combining Procell microchanneling with Chinese medicine principals and practices, co-founded EastWest Microneedling in 2018, and began teaching this powerful synthesis to other practitioners soon after!
What do you enjoy the most about your work?
With EastWest Microneedling, I feel passionately about supporting acupuncturists and other skincare professionals to thrive by bringing an amazing specialty to their patients that promotes beauty through health. In my private practice it’s an honor to help my patients to feel energetic, relaxed, balanced, grounded, AND beautiful through aesthetic acupuncture and integrative microneedling! I enjoy getting to know my patients on a deep level and creating a partnership with them to support their own health. With both businesses, I’m an educator at heart and love to geek out with healthcare practitioners and my acupuncture patients about the benefits of Chinese medicine.
What's your favorite thing to do when you're not working?
Spending time with my “rock” husband and our amazing teenager - watching movies, sharing meals together, camping in gorgeous Colorado, the activity doesn’t matter as much as simply enjoying their company.
